Who am I?

From a 16 year old who studied a cert iii in Graphic Design to a 25 year old UX subject expert at Curtin University – the same place where I acquired my Bachelor and Masters Degree, I have fallen in love with a cross range of specialties in the Design industry and my work proves it.

The main objective in all of my work is to Leverage individual experiences and focus on putting people first through accessibility and user engagement.

With a strong background in User experience and behavioural research, and driving change through physical and Web experiences, my background spans across a range of subcontracting and full term work with Perth businesses and large scale companies in the mining, education, finance, medical and retail sectors.

Currently working at Curtin University, my role focuses deeply on the future student experience and how prospective students navigate the website. Driving consistent updates to pages, focusing on future accessibility and working with surrounding faculty and teams, to ensure every page in a complex environment is taken care of and actively supporting users on a daily basis.

Cross-Industry knowledge

With a rich history of Graphic Design, I was exposed to a range of industries which have relationships which tie back to those roots. I have worked in Events, Photographic and videography industries and panned all of those skills back to User experience and ensuring that in every job I do there is a great satisfaction and desire driving back to the interaction of audiences in each sector.

I see my job as an opportunity to make change for all, to enhance and to render the possibilities of a large technological world, and to take the tiny puzzle pieces which will create joy in those who utilise the products I design.

By being exposed and successful in multiple industries and bringing my excitement of knowledge to the table, it has allowed me to expand my skills in Stakeholder relationships, Client interactions and has driven a great public relationship with my network of humans!

Why am I so focused on Accessibility?

When we talk about accessibility, in the web world we often go straight to WCAG or ensuring our screens have white backgrounds. This is important, but my love for accessibility runs down to a physical human touch and psychological scale which onboards in all ways products are designed.

I am a UX designer who is also in need of accessible features. Living with Osteo Genesis Imperfecta (OI), and growing up in hospitals, I was quickly put in the scenario of watching the different aspect of all humans - from different walks of life. This put me in a position to analyse and realise that everything we do has impact whether that is of physical nature or psychological.

When we tie that back to where I am now, working in UX and servicing humans on a daily basis, I questionall of my work to "what is the physical" and "what is the psychological impact. When you do this accessibility comes at ease, we are able to push change faster and iterations of products to be diversified project in a successful way, and hey, people have joy.
